Project background:

A factory needs to palletize cartons of different models. At present, the company mainly uses manual 

handling and palletizing on wooden pallets. However, with the acceleration of the production pace, 

personnel are easily fatigued and bored when facing high-intensity and repetitive labor, which leads to 

low work efficiency. At the same time, the increase in labor costs, 24-hour production in day and night 

shifts, information docking of different batches, system data synchronization and other aspects are 

becoming more and more complicated, and the cost of rework due to human negligence is getting higher 

and higher. These problems also restrict the further development of the company, and intelligent, 

automated, and data-based transformation and upgrading are effective ways to solve this problem.

Project requirements:

1. Cartons are put into the conveyor line, and the 3D vision is informed of the models of different batches 

of incoming cartons to adapt to different visual algorithms;

2. When the carton arrives directly below the 3D camera, the front end informs the arrival signal, triggers 

the 3D vision to take pictures and locate the center coordinates of the carton, and informs the robot;

3. After the 3D camera above the wooden pallet receives the arrival signal of the pallet, it triggers the 3D 

camera to identify the center coordinates of the pallet and informs the robot;

4. The robot stacks cartons of different specifications according to the center of the pallet and the 

grabbing center of the carton.


Technical analysis:

1. Traditional 2D vision cannot meet the requirements of large field of view, large depth of field, and 

cannot capture height information, while 3D cameras can meet the requirements.

2. Use DLP binocular structured light 3D camera, which is installed on the motion module and can adjust 

the distance appropriately according to the on-site situation.
